In this lesson, throughout Year 3 of your studies, you will read, listen to, and write about popular American English short stories. Please follow the directions below closely.

People do many strange things when looking for love or gain attention. Sometimes people do not always tell the truth such as in the story of, ‘The count and the Wedding Guest”, written by O.Henry. The story is about two characters, a young man named Andy Donovan and a woman named Miss Conway. There are no other significant characters mentioned in the story. The story is set in a second Avenue boarding house, where the protagonist, Andy Donovan resides One evening at dinner he meets a new guest a young lady, Miss Conway. she is small and quite lady. Both of them exchange smiles. After two weeks Miss Conway, wearing a night-black dress, gloves, and hat, all black. Expression of sadness is on her face. She pretends to be mourning her deceased fiancé just to gain attention and care and love. At that moment, Andy Donovan falls in love with her. when she confesses the truth and tearfully admits to Andy that she had lied about the boyfriend, she had never had a boyfriend. They become closer, eventually get married.

Then my lover was gone to Italy and he had been killed.
At that moment, Andy Donovan falls in love with her. Long time next, she confessed to Andy the truth and admitted that she had lied about the boyfriend, she had never had a boyfriend. They become closer, and agreed to got married.
