I want you to think about productivity as a lifestyle choice rather than a task to be accomplished. I want you to understand that it’s not something you can learn and then accomplish overnight. It’s a process, a mindset, and a way of life.
STEP 1: Take Time for Yourself
The first step is to take time for yourself. It sounds simple, but it’s not. If you want to become more productive, you need to give yourself time to do it.
STEP 2: Break Down Tasks
The next step is to break down the tasks that are making you so busy. I recommend taking some time to write out a list of all the tasks you are currently working on. This will help you identify which ones are holding you back the most.
STEP 3: Identify What You Want to Accomplish
Now it’s time to set realistic goals. Write out what you want to accomplish and why. For example, if you want to increase your income, what does that mean for you? Do you want to get published? Do you want to start a freelance business? Whatever it is, it’s important to get clear on what you want to accomplish.
STEP 4: Set Specific Deadlines
Finally, set specific deadlines for when you want to accomplish these tasks. This is where you want to start setting aside specific times to work on your tasks. If you don’t set deadlines, it’s easy to let them slip through the cracks and lose track of what you wanted to accomplish.
STEP 5: Schedule Time
Set aside time every day to work on your tasks. I recommend scheduling at least 30 minutes for each task. This is the minimum amount of time you should be spending each day to be successful. However, if you are struggling with staying focused, I recommend increasing your daily time to at least an hour.
STEP 6: Reward Yourself
After accomplishing a task, reward yourself. We all need a little incentive to get started, so you’ll want to reward yourself with a treat or some sort of reward once you complete your task.
