VOA, As It Is….. ” Workers Try to Flee Vietnam’s Big”.
The above meaningful and important article made me sad! Ho Chi Minh city is the largest city, business and financial hub of Vietnam, also known as Saigon. But because extends of Coronavirus retrictions, thousand of jobless workers are fleeing to their hometown. They say the authorities failed to provide sufficient aid to migrant workers in Ho Chi Minh city and its surrounding regions during the month’s long restrictions. The government support was too little, it was never enough. People are leaving town on motorbikes with their belongings. Officials are trying to prevent them from leaving and possibly spreading the virus to other parts of the country. Many people have died because of hunger and the stress of corona virus. Healthcare centers and hospital are now overcrowded.
