” More Job Seekers have Interviews with Computers.”
Ther are two main options, face to face or online. Each method has its advantages and disadvantages. It is very difficult to say whether a machine can correctly or fairly judge a person’s personality and re reactions in front of camera. The Covid -19 pandemic has significance role of having the online interviews.
There is a job seeker, named Dana Anthony, master’s degree holder in communication has gone through numerous online interviews. However, she consistently receives her rejection letter via email the day after the interview. For her, ‘Rejection’ is a question mark …?
One of the leading companies, called Hire Vue is running online interview system. Hire Vue uses artificial Intelligence (AI) method to judge a job seeker’s personality and job skill. It did this by observing the expressions on a person’s face during the interview. Hire Vue’s company makes sure that its technology is not and will not discriminate based on things like race, gender or a person’s speaking accent, further it said, ”What we are trying to replace is people’s, ‘gut instinct’.
But Dana Anthony, who holds a master’s degree in communication says that interviews left her uneasy about who, or what was judging her.
