I’m proud of you for completing years 1 and 2 of our American English course.  In order for you to become a strong intermediate American English learner, you need to be able to read, understand, and discuss abridged American English short stories.  In this lesson, throughout Year 3 of your studies, you will read, listen to, and write about popular American English short stories. Please follow the directions below closely.

    The name of the of this week is, ”The Gift of Magi.” written by Henery.
    A very heartfelt and romantic story. Della and Jim happily married couple. They love each other so much that they sacrifice their most prized possessions in order to give each other a charismas gift. The story is true meaning of love and sacrifice. the couple is not very rich but rich by heart and love for each other. On a charismas eve Della wants to buy a gift for her husband but she has only one dollar and eighty cents, that was all with her careful buying of meat and other food. Della gets sad and start crying. Suddenly she gets up and stands front the tall glass mirror and looks herself. She pulls down her hairs and let them fall to their full length. This action gives her courage and bright idea in her mind. Della gets ready for going out. She stops at hair cutting shop and asked him whether the shopkeeper he will buy her hair. When shopkeeper looks her hair which are so beautiful and long. He buys her hair for twenty dollars. Having twenty-dollar Della looks in all the store to choose a gift for Jim a gold watch chain. the hair of Della has been ruined by her love and desire to give special gift to his husband.
    On the other hand, Jim has a family pocket watch. he also sells the watch because he wants to buy Charismas gift for his wife. Jim belongs to a poor family and is short of money to buy the beautiful hair combs that his wife wanted. The only way he could gift the hair combs to his wife to sell the watch, so that, she could comb her beautiful long hair.
    The story teaches us the valuable lesson of loving and caring for each other.in the story, both Della and Jim sell their most loved possessions in order to buy something beautiful for each other. The story is a great way to teach to the children to be loving and kind to their families.

Della gets ready for going out to the stops at hair cutting for selling $20 to Madam Sofronie. Having twenty-dollar Della looks in all the store to choose a gift for Jim a gold watch chain. the hair of Della has been ruined by her love and desire to give special gift to his husband.
    Jim has a family pocket watch. he also sold the watch because he wants to buy Charismas gift for his wife as known that a set good comb. He could give gift to his wife as her destiny for her beautiful hair.
    The story teaches us the valuable of loving and caring for each other. Both Della and Jim sell their most loved possessions in order to buy something beautiful for each other. Even though, their gifts were small and can’t use at the movement but it was very wonderful meaning and unforgettable things for them and make their love is forever. It is a good story to show about love and caring each other from the bottom of their heart.
