Are Robot Police Dogs Useful Tool or Threating Machines?
Robot dog named,’ spot’ to be donated to LAPD (loss Angeles Police Department) after approval from city council. In Honolulu the police department spent near the airport about $ 15,000 in federal pandemic aid money to buy their Spot. It was purchased from Boston Dynamics for use at a government homeless shelter near the airport.
Joseph O’Neal, supervisor of the Honolulu police department said, it has protected officers, shelter workers and the homeless people. The robot can do this by examining body temperature between mealtimes. As a result, the homeless people could get tested for COVID-19 and quarantined if needed. The robot is also used to communicate with people who have the virus. Digi dogs are also known as Spot is a controlled robot made by the Hyundai owned Bosten Dynamis.Michal Perry is the vice President of Boston Dynamic said, there are about 500 spot robots in use. They are used by companies to inspect areas with dangerous level of electrically, Spot is still mostly controlled by human.
